Courses will consist of a 5k distance and a 10k distance.  As with most trail runs, distances are approximate.

We've designed a course with a couple of things in mind:
  • Challenging - we picked a good mix of trails for both the 5k and 10k.  We didn't want to pick just the flatest, easiest trails.  Instead, we picked some that will be both challenging (tough) and rewarding.
  • Different/Unique - In order to get close to the advertised distance, we found routes that aren't your typical paths that you normally take following the trails.  This is true for both the 5k and 10k.  And for those of you doing the 10k, we have a special treat for you at the 4 mile point. (grin).
  • As close to the advertised distance as possible - Unlike road races, we don't have the flexibility of streets in order to make the course EXACT.  So therefore, we have come close to the advertised distance.  Using a combination of GPS (which is not always accurate) and a calibrated bike speedometer, we've come up with a final distance of approximatly 3.3 miles for the short race and 6.3 for the long.
